Chicago Rush South holding tryouts for 2018-19 season

MINOOKA — The Chicago Rush South soccer club, a competitive soccer club based in Minooka, will host tryouts in May for the 2018-19 season.

Chicago Rush South currently fields competitive soccer teams for boys and girls ages 6 up through high school. The club is an affiliate of the Chicago Rush Soccer Club and the national Rush Soccer organization, the largest youth soccer organization in the world.

“Chicago Rush South is an elite soccer program that allows players to maximize their enjoyment and development for the game of soccer,” said Frazer Galt, the club’s director of coaching.

The club provides a well-rounded and comprehensive soccer experience to players from the area, including Minooka, Channahon, Shorewood, Joliet, Plainfield, Morris and other local communities. The 2018-19 season will be the club’s second, and Galt said players have already seen the benefits of being affiliated with the national Rush organization.

“Becoming part of Rush Soccer has been nothing but a great experience so far,” Galt said. “Our players have been given some great opportunities, from guest playing with other out-of-state Rush organizations to traveling to Arizona to try out for the club’s National Select program.”

The club's tryout sessions will be held in May. Tryout sessions are based on a player's age and gender and are scheduled as follows:

• Girls born between 2000 and 2004 (U15 to U19) will be from 6 to 8 p.m. May 6 at Joliet Memorial Stadium, 3000 W. Jefferson St., Joliet.

• Boys born between 2000 and 2004 (U15 to U19) will be from 6 to 8 p.m. May 16 at Joliet Memorial Stadium, 3000 W. Jefferson St., Joliet.

• Boys born between 2009 and 2012 (U7 to U10) will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 14 and 15 at Summit Park, 250 River’s Edge Drive, Minooka.

• Boys born in 2007 and 2008 (U11 and U12) will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 14 and 15 at Summit Park, 250 River’s Edge Drive, Minooka.

• Boys born between 2004 and 2006 (U13 to U15) will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 14 and 15 at Arbor Lakes, 1101 Redwood Lane, Minooka.

• Girls born between 2009 and 2012 (U7 to U10) will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 20 and 21 at Summit Park, 250 River’s Edge Drive, Minooka.

• Girls born in 2007 and 2008 (U11 and U12) will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 20 and 21 at Summit Park, 250 River’s Edge, Minooka.

• Girls born between 2004 and 2006 (U13 to U15) will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 20 and 21 at Arbor Lakes Park, 1101 Redwood Lane, Minooka.

Athletes are expected to attend all scheduled tryout sessions for their age group and should bring shin guards, a ball and a water bottle.
