Crashes Cause Delays On I-55

CHANNAHON, IL — Illinois State Police said a semi rollover on I-55 northbound at milepost 247 had the left lane closed just before 8 a.m. Friday. Minutes later, police said a second crash was reported in the southbound lanes in the same area.

The stretch of I-55 is between Route 6 and Bluff Road.

In one of the crashes, a vehicle driven an off-duty suburban fire chief was hit by a semi, according to Northern Illinois FireGround Photos. No one was transported to a hospital as a result of that crash, according to the page.
