I-55 Bridge Needs Emergency Repairs: IDOT
Work will begin around midnight along southbound I-55 in Will County, IDOT announced Tuesday.

CHANNAHON, IL - If you travel along Interstate 55 in Will County, pay attention to this important announcement from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Starting Tuesday night, crews will begin performing emergency bridge deck repairs. The work requires crews to shut down one lane of I-55 southbound traffic over the BNSF Railroad and Grant Creek area here in Will County.
Here are the key highlights you need to know, according to IDOT:
- Southbound I-55's right lane and shoulder lane will be closed about 3 miles south of Arsenal Road.
- The lane will be closed starting around midnight, Tuesday Feb. 13.
- The lane will reopen by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14
- At least one of traffic will be kept open.
- Expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
