I-55 Fatality Between Braidwood And Gardner: Coroner
The 49-year-old St. Louis man was ejected from his vehicle after crashing along Interstate 55 in Grundy County on Friday afternoon.

BRAIDWOOD, IL— A 49-year-old man who died Friday afternoon during a crash along the northbound stretch of Interstate 55 has been identified as Derrel James Warner of St. Louis. The fatal wreck happened along the stretch between Gardner and Braidwood.
According to Grundy County Coroner John Callahan, the preliminary investigation indicated that Warner was traveling northbound on I-55 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled through the median into the path of Jeep traveling southbound.
"Mr. Warner’s vehicle struck the Jeep head on and then rotated and was struck by a semi-tractor trailer southbound. He was then ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by Callahan," the coroner's office announced.

The fatality investigation is ongoing with Callahan’s Office and the Illinois State Police District 5, authorities said.
