I-80 Crash Near Morris Kills Man
The Illinois State Police responded to the crash along the westbound stretch of Interstate 80 near Brisbon Road.

MORRIS, IL — One person was killed after authorities say a 20-year-old Morris driver who was parked along the shoulder of Interstate 80 pulled out in front of the semi causing the fatal collision east of Brisbon Road.
The Grundy County Coroner's Office identified the first fatality victim as 43-year-old semi driver Brandon Heard of River Grove, Ill. The crash happened at 11:50 p.m. Sunday.
A 25-year-old passenger who was riding in the 2011 Blue Jeep Grand Cherokee is in critical condition. Authorities say that the two men from Morris were parked on the shoulder of I-80 near mile post 114 and the driver tried to re-enter the westbound stretch of traffic.

The Illinois State Police initially reported the 25-year-old passenger died, but later issued a correction.
"Just as the vehicle entered it was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer driven by Brandon E. Heard," the Grundy County Coroner's Office stated.

Heard was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:42 a.m. Monday, authorities said Heard was driving a 2019 Black Freightliner Truck, according to police.
The Grundy County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
