Illinois Unemployment Fraud On The Rise

If you receive an IDES debit card in the mail but did not apply for unemployment, contact the department of employment security.

Illinois is seeing another spike in fraudulent unemployment claims (link), in which people's identities are being stolen for unemployment benefits.

If you receive a letter approving you for unemployment benefits or receive an IDES debit card in the mail but did not apply for unemployment, please call the Illinois Department of Employment Security at 800-814-0513 and call the Illinois Attorney General's office's Identity Theft Hotline at 1-866-999-5630.
