Joliet Woman Injured by Medi-Van Fire Extinguisher: Lawsuit

Kurtz Ambulance Service was sued in connection with the alleged fire extinguisher mishap.

A Joliet woman was injured by the discharge from a Kurtz Ambulance Service medi-van fire extinguisher, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Rachelle Kunke was “in or near” the medi-van when the fire extinguisher “discharged part or all of its contents causing Kunke to be exposed to the contents of the fire extinguisher,” the lawsuit said.

The Insurance Program Managers Group and Presence Villa Franciscan rehabilitation center in Joliet brought the lawsuit against Kurtz Ambulance Service. Villa Franciscan and the Insurance Program Managers Group were forced to pay for Kunke’s “temporary total disability and medical expenses” as a result of her injury, according to the lawsuit, which also said they will “likely incur payments for (her) permanent partial disability” as well.
