Kinzinger Votes To Punish GOP's Greene For Conspiracy Talk
Kinzinger has previously urged his fellow Republican lawmakers to cut ties with Donald Trump and "forcefully denounce his actions."

CHANNAHON, IL — Channahon's six-term Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger continues to make waves within the GOP. Kinzinger was one of only 11 Republicans who voted Thursday to punish Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene by removing her from several House committees after she endorsed false conspiracies, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Kinzinger's vote to remove Greene from her House committee assignments was not a surprise, but was another example of the Illinois Republican distancing himself from the Republican Party establishment, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Kinzinger has been one of the most vocal critics of former President Donald Trump, and supported the impeachment of Trump.

This is why I voted yes. There is no remorse here for her past comments. Just a huge desire to be famous. https://t.co/Bir0NsufI1

On Jan. 13, Kinzinger posted the following remarks on his Twitter account: "It was a sobering moment to vote in support of impeachment today; to walk over to the U.S. Capitol, our symbol of democracy, and recall the violent insurrection we witnessed here just one week ago. This is not a vote I took lightly, but a vote I took confidently. I'm at peace."

Meanwhile, Patch reported on Friday that the vote to remove Greene from committees was supported by 221 Democrats and the 11 Republicans. Some have called for Greene's resignation due to the Republican's history of supporting controversial conspiracy theories, including QAnon, and her social media support for threats of violence against House leaders.
Greene was slated to serve on the House's Education and Labor Committee as well as the Budget Committee.
"I'm sorry for saying all of those things that are wrong and offensive, and I sincerely mean that," Greene said toward the end of a press conference. "I'm happy to say that. I think it's good to say when we've done something wrong."
