Minooka Teen May Lose 2020 Corvette To Shorewood PD Forfeiture
Mark Feltenstein Jr. refused to be pulled over on Route 59, reaching 87 mph, Shorewood police determined.

SHOREWOOD, IL — An 18-year-old Minooka teenager facing criminal charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding the police may soon to be parting ways with his 2020 Chevrolet Corvette, according to a civil forfeiture filed by the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow.
The incident that led to Mark Feltenstein's arrest and detention at the Will County Jail occurred April 22.
That day, Shorewood Police Officer Tabor Aubry was on patrol near Route 59 when he saw Feltenstein's Chevrolet Corvette pass in front of him with no front license plates and traveling at a high rate speed, court documents show.

The officer activated his squad car's radar, determining the car was traveling 15 mph over the posted 40 mph speed limit, court records state.
When the Shorewood officer turned on his squad car's lights and sirens, the Minooka teenager sped away from the officer heading southbound along Route 59, court documents state.

"Officer Aubry observed the vehicle illegally enter into a designated median to pass other vehicles in the left lane," the forfeiture complaint outlined.
Although the Shorewood patrol officer ended the pursuit as he approached Seil Road, Aubry alerted 911 radio dispatchers of the fleeing car's description.
"He observed the vehicle's front end lift up into the air as there was a raised concrete median curb on the left side of the roadway ... the vehicle then proceeded through a red light and entered southbound I-55, at which time, WESCOM advised that they would contact the Illinois State Police," court records reflect.
Aubry had clocked the fleeing Corvette's speed at 87 mph when he tried to pull over the car, the forfeiture document noted.
Later, Channahon police stopped Feltenstein's car, and that prompted the Shorewood officer to drive to the scene of the traffic stop.
"The Channahon Fire Department had also stopped on scene and advised Officer Aubry that the vehicle went head on with three different vehicles on the highway as it fled," court records state.
Feltenstein was put under arrest on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding the police and brought to Shorewood's police station for questioning.
"When asked why he fled, Feltenstein stated that he thought he could get away," the forfeiture complaint advised the judge. "Mark Feltenstein Jr. was then transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for processing."
The Will County court hearing on whether to make the Minooka 18-year-old's 2020 Chevrolet Corvette a forfeited asset for the police is set for 9 a.m. on July 14.
