Minooka's Amy Odell Promoted To Director Of Activities At Timbers

Amy Odell of Minooka has been promoted to director of activities at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community at 1100 North River Rd. She has been involved with the Timbers since 2010.

She was a legal assistant for 11 years before leaving to raise her two daughters. In 2008 she began working as a private caregiver and enjoyed meeting many wonderful families.

“I was a caregiver for a couple who moved to the Timbers in 2010,” Odell said. “I loved taking part in the activities with them along with volunteering for outings and getting to know the residents and staff.”

Previously, Odell was the activities assistant and prior to that, she taught Sittercise at the Timbers.

As activities director, Odell holds “Activities Updates” once a week for the residents. She informs all attendees of upcoming activities and events. As a group they discuss what they enjoy and what future activities they would like to try.

“I want each resident to know they have a voice, and I am here to listen,” she said. “I love spending time with the residents and listening to their stories and memories,” she said. “I am very blessed to be part of what makes them smile, have fun, and be involved. The Timbers is like a second home to me. Everyone here feels like family.”
