Morris Police Shoot Vicious Dog That Attacks Teen
A 14-year-old was bit by a dog early Saturday evening prompting a Morris police officer to shoot and wound the dog, authorities said.

MORRIS, IL — The Morris Police Department announced Saturday night that an officer shot and wounded a dog that attacked a 14-year-old near the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Shabbona Street. The police shooting happened around 5:15 p.m.
Morris police said the 14-year-old boy was bitten by the dog at least three times on his legs and arm. The dog's owner managed to pull the dog away from the victim and maintain the dog on a lease, initially, authorities said.
"As officers and paramedics arrived on scene, the dog broke out of his leash again and attacked a Morris police officer,"the police department announced on its Facebook page. "The dog latched onto the officer’s arm. The officer had to resort to using his service weapon to stop the attack."

The teenager was taken to the Morris Hospital for treatment of his injuries, and the Morris officer also went to the hospital after suffering a severe injury to his arm, the department announced.
The dog suffered one gun shot wound to his thigh, police said. The Grundy County Animal Control brought the dog to an animal hospital for treatment.
