New Soccer Club Chicago Rush South Tryouts in May

MINOOKA — A new youth soccer club in Minooka will host tryouts for the 2017-18 season in May at Summit Park in Minooka. Chicago Rush South is a new competitive soccer club that will field teams for boys and girls from the age of 6 up through high school. The club is an affiliate of the Chicago Rush Soccer Club and the national Rush Soccer organization, the largest youth soccer organization in the world.

Frazer Galt, the director of coaching for the club, said Chicago Rush South will provide new and better opportunities to youth soccer players in the area.

“Chicago Rush South will be providing an elite soccer program that allows players to maximize their enjoyment and development for the game of soccer,” Galt said. “This is an amazing program to be part of, and we are very excited to have been given this opportunity. We have a great experienced staff and will be looking to add a high school director as well as a technical director that will help with many aspects of player, parent and coach development.”

This year, being an affiliate of Rush, Galt said players have already seen many benefits, including opportunities to play on select, State Cup and showcase teams for tournaments.

“We also had College Advisory presentations to provide our high school players and parents with so much knowledge in moving forward with the college recruiting process, which is a great example of the many opportunities this club will provide,” Galt said.

Galt will travel to Colorado this summer to participate in the Rush Summit, meeting all Rush directors from around the globe. During this time he will learn about “The Rush Way” and bring back new ideas to make this the best possible program for everyone involved.

The club’s tryout sessions will be at Summit Park, 300 River’s Edge Drive in Minooka. Tryout sessions are based on a player’s age and gender and are scheduled as follows:

• Girls born between 1999 and 2003 (U15 to 19) will be from 5 to 7 p.m. May 7.
• Boys born in 2010 and 2011 (U7 and U8) will be from 5 to 6 p.m. May 15 and 17.
• Boys born in 2008 and 2009 (U9 and U10) will be from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. May 15 and 17.
• Boys born in 2006 and 2007 (U11 and U12) will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 16 and 18.
• Boys born between 2003 and 2005 (U13 to U15) will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 16 and 18.
• Girls born between 2008 and 2011 (U7 to U10) will be from 5 to 6:15 p.m. May 22 and 23.
• Girls born between 2003 and 2007 (U11 to U15) will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 22 and 23.
• Boys born between 1999 and 2003 (U15 to U19) will be from 5 to 7 p.m. May 19 and 22.

Athletes are expected to attend all scheduled tryouts for their age group and should bring shin guards and a water bottle.
