Ridge Road Construction: Minooka Adjusts To More Detours
For the second straight year, construction crews are busy tearing apart and resurfacing Ridge Road in Minooka.

MINOOKA, IL — If you live around Minooka, you're well aware of the major repairs along Ridge Road. Construction work has been taking place since last year.
But for motorists passing through Minooka, the "Road Closed" traffic sign near Mondamin Street, might be unexpected.
In mid-May, village officials announced that road construction was getting underway along Ridge Road between East McEvilly Road and West Mondamin Street, and the work was sure to create traffic delays.

According to Minooka, this particular project involves pavement widening, viaduct expansion, storm sewer, multi-use path, sidewalk, and curb and gutter work.
In recent days, Minooka posted the following update on its website: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ridge Road between Twin Rail Drive and Minooka Road will remain closed until further notice. All traffic will utilize Twin Rail Drive-McLinden Road-Minooka Road for an alternate route. The closure is necessary to complete railroad crossing improvements in relation to the Ridge Road widening project."

Completion of the major repairs to Ridge Road are expected to finish sometime this fall.
"Drivers are urged to pay close attention to traffic control devices in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers, equipment, and changing traffic control patterns," Minooka has urged drivers.
