Illinois American Water is asking customers in the Ridgecrest neighborhood in Morris, to prepare to boil water.
Illinois American Water is asking customers in the Ridgecrest neighborhood in Morris, to prepare to boil water beginning on Friday, November 9th at 1:00 pm Central Standard Time while the company does critical water service work.
As part of Illinois American Water's ongoing infrastructure improvements and commitment to providing high quality water, the company is rehabilitating the well in the Ridgecrest neighborhood replacing the well pump and motor, discharge piping, and installing a new fire hydrant. The investment is approximately $100,000 and will enhance water service quality and reliability to customers.
Chris Ducret, Operations Supervisor-Production in the Chicago Metro area, is overseeing the project and advises customers to follow protocol during the duration of the infrastructure investment. “We ask the approximately 78 affected customers to bring their water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking,” explained Ducret. “Water may still be used for bathing, washing and other common uses. Free bottled water will be provided during the duration of the boil order, including the weekend,” stated Ducret.

Customers can pick up water at the well house located at the corner of Williams Street and Mabel Court in Morris, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8am to 3pm, during the duration of the boil water order.
The boil water order is being issued in accordance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) regulations. Anytime water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in any part of a community’s distribution system, a boil order must be issued as a precaution to protect customers. This boil water order is expected to be in effect for approximately six days and could be lifted sooner so the company will notify customers in the same manner once the boil water order is lifted.
