Special Pediatric Exams Offered By Health Department

The special pediatric exams will start in February.

JOLIET, IL —The Will County Health Department will offer a special service to day cares and nursery schools required to have pediatric exams for their.

The health department will start its Special Community Agency Access program February 22. Day cares and nursery schools can bring children to the health department by appointment or as walk-ins basis for required pediatric exams from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays. They exams are available on a sliding fee scale and many forms of public insurance, such as Medicaid and Medicare, as well as private insurance, will be accepted.

Pediatrician Carletha Hughes said the program will offer a much needed service to children of the community, as well as the many agencies who care for them

“I think this will promote community cooperation for us and the agencies, as well as access to good health for so many children,” Hughes said. “We will be able to provide these pediatric exams to the children whether they have insurance or not.”
