Thanksgiving 2016: What's Open, What's Closed in Channahon, Minooka
Make sure you don't waste a trip.
Ah, Thanksgiving. The day we don't have to feel guilty for overeating. But don't worry. That guilt will return on Friday when you feast on leftovers.
It's also the time most of us run out to the stores after saying thanks for what we already have. While libraries, schools and government offices will be closed, some retail stores will be open, although at varied hours.
Below is a list of what’s open and what’s closed.

- Post Office: Closed
- Federal Offices: Closed
- City offices are closed. Garbage collection will be delayed a day.
- Will/Grundy County offices, including the circuit clerk’s office, courts, health department and more will be closed on Thanksgiving
- Local schools: Closed
- Local library: Closed
- Banks: Closed
- Gas stations: Open
- Retail stores: Some will be closed, some will be open. Walmart, for instance, will be open, but the deals don't start until 6 p.m. Other retailers have decided to take a stance against opening on Thanksgiving. Call ahead to make sure.
