3-Legged Dog Stolen By Boys In South Loop

The pup was stolen at this Target on Roosevelt Road, police said.

CHICAGO — A three-legged dog was stolen Saturday evening at a Target store in the South Loop neighborhood. The dog was tied up outside the store while his owner went inside, police said.

Two boys, ages 8 and 10, were seen on the store's surveillance cameras taking the dog around 7 p.m., police said.

George is a 30-pound Australian shepherd mix, according to a report by ABC 7. His owner, Sarah Hughes, said she left George in a location with security cameras where other owners often leave their dogs, ABC 7 reported. She returned after five minutes to find George gone.

"My biggest worry is that he's so loving that he'll go with anybody," Hughes told ABC 7.

The boys took the dog on the CTA Red Line, police said. Officers were able to track them down on the train and took George and the boys to the police station. Hughes picked George up shortly after from the station, and he was fine, according to ABC 7.
