Man With Concealed Carry License Shoots 17-Year-Old Who Broke Into Vehicle: Cops

The teen and another male were in the man's vehicle, and one of the pair displayed a gun before the man opened fire, the man told police.

CHICAGO ? A man shot a teen who was one of two people who broke into the man's vehicle early Monday morning, with the man opening fire after one of the apparent burglars displayed a gun, according to Chicago police.

The incident occurred in the 9400 block of South Indiana Avenue around 3:40 a.m., when a 58-year-old man heard a car alarm, went outside and saw his driver?s side window broken and two males in his parked vehicle, the man told police.

One of the males showed a gun, and the man, who had a valid firearm owners identification and concealed carry license, fired his own weapon, hitting a 17-year-old boy in the arm and knee, the man told police.

The boy was taken to a hospital in fair condition, while the second person in the vehicle ran east on foot before entering a gray minivan, police said. Detectives are investigating, according to police.
