CHICAGO, IL — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country and the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day — especially now that Illinois is fully reopened. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

July 4 Festivities and Fireworks
- What: Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events announced that "Fireworks will return for this year's Fourth of July holiday weekend." But the logistics are to still be determined. "Details including the date, time and new viewing locations along the lakefront will be announced soon," according to the announcement from the city.

Nearby July 4 Events
Other Fourth of July celebrations are happening in Wilmette, including a 5K race, live music and food vendors; Lake Forest, featuring an Independence Day parade and fireworks; and Oak Lawn, including a parade, concert and fireworks.
Summer Fireworks
- What: While Navy Pier has not announced plans for a Fourth of July celebration as it has in years past, the venue does have summer fireworks displays on Wednesdays and Saturday nights through the summer. "Find a spot anywhere on the pier to take in this dazzling free display," with a soundtrack featuring dramatic and popular music with some special occasion soundtracks, Navy Pier said.
- Where: 600 E. Grand Ave.
- When: 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 10:15 p.m. Saturdays through Aug. 4 except for Saturday, July 3 (no fireworks show that night). The closest displays to July 4 are Wednesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 7.
