4th Of July Weekend Weather: Dry, Sunny, Temps In The 90s For IL

Heat index values will be in the mid-90s on Sunday and Monday, the weather service said.

ILLINOIS — After multiple days of rain, it looks like Illinoisans will see a dry, sunny and warm Fourth of July weekend. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will warm into the low 90s on Sunday and Monday, with heat index values in the mid-90s.

Friday will have a high of 78, before temperatures start creeping up into the 80s and 90s, according to the weather service.

There is a high swim risk on Friday, due to gusty winds which will generate high waves and strong currents, causing dangerous swimming conditions at Lake Michigan beaches through Friday, according to the weather service. Saturday afternoon and Sunday look better for swimming, the weather service said.

Saturday has a high of 86 degrees, followed by a high of 93 on Sunday and 91 on Monday, according to the weather service. There is a limited excessive heat risk on both Sunday and Monday, as well as a limited thunderstorm risk on Monday.
