CHICAGO, IL — Adidas Originals opened its largest store worldwide in Wicker Park Thursday. The 4,996 square-foot space is located on North Milwaukee Avenue near the North Damen and West North Avenue intersection. For its kickoff, the store featured a DJ and a signature "Wicker Park" sneaker.

"We’re continuously inspired by Chicago, and the store enables us to celebrate the pioneering culture and creativity the city has to offer," said Pascha Naderi-Nejad, Adidas Originals senior brand director.

The Wicker Park Adidas Originals store is designed to "generate a localized, community-centric experience that pays homage to the pulse of the city’s streets," according to a media release. (For more local news, subscribe to free email news alerts and a daily newsletter for your hometown Patch.)

There are only 350 pairs of signature Wicker Park sneakers. The shoes are designed with a blue stripe on the label, an homage to North Milwaukee Avenue and the CTA Blue Line L Train. The store's dressing rooms are also designed to look like the trains.

The new flagship store is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
