Anjanette Young Files Lawsuit Over Botched Raid Claiming Cover-up
A Lawsuit filed in Cook County alleges police violated social worker's civil rights and City Hall engaged in attempted cover-up.

CHICAGO — Anjanette Young, — who was naked, handcuffed and afraid as Chicago cops pointed pistols in February 2019 while raiding her home looking for someone who didn't live there — filed a new lawsuit against the city, police department and 12 officers on the scene.
The lawsuit claims the Chicago social worker's civil rights were violated during the botched raid and that city officials, including Mayor Lori Lightfoot, engaged in a cover-up to keep police video of the incident secret.
CBS2 first broadcast police video of the botched raid after Young's attorney dropped a lawsuit in federal court. The video garnered national attention and outrage.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot initially denied knowing about the wrongful raid. Later, she said her staff had informed her of the incident, but she didn't see the video until it was published by CBS2. Since then, Lightfoot has apologized to Young and fired the city's top attorney, whose office fought to keep the video secret.
