12 Children Sent to Hospital After School Bus Overturns
Several ambulances responded to a 3:30 p.m. bus accident in Boone County near Rockford Wednesday. The injuries were not serious.

BELVIDERE, IL — A school bus collided with a car and overturned in Belvidere Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., sending 12 children to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to local fire officials.
Several ambulances were dispatched to the accident scene at the intersection of Orth and Beloit roads. The Rockford Register Star reports 35 school children were riding on the bus when the accident took place. A child who was aboard the bus told a reporter for the Register Star the students on the bus attend Belvidere Central Middle School.
A neighbor's security camera recorded the accident.

The car stopped at the intersection and then rolled into the bus as the bus passed through the intersection. The force of the impact caused the bus to tip over.
Parents who heard about the accident rushed to the scene.
