Cat, Thought To Be Killed In Fire, Found At Shelter

Ten days after a fire at his home, a Chicago man was reunited with the furball he thought died in the blaze.

CHICAGO, IL — It's been nearly two weeks since a nighttime house fire near Roosevelt and Mozart turned a cat temporarily homeless. Feeling bad for a found cat, a paramedic responding to the Dec. 15 fire brought Rilke to Chicago Animal Care and Control.

"Even after the trauma Rilke had suffered, he was sweet and loving," CACC said on their Facebook page. He had singed whiskers, so he had been close to the heat but was able to escape.

The owner of the house had thought his cat died in the fire.
