The Chainsmokers got their start recording remixes by other artists, adding in a blend of drums, guitar, and piano to achieve their own electronic sound. In 2104 they released their own single, “#Selfie,” which brought the DJ duo of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall plenty of attention. Throughout the next year, Taggart and Pall continued to produce successful singles, including “Roses” and “Until You Were Gone,” which would both be featured on “Bouquet,” their debut EP.

Their collaborations with other artists made them a household name in EDM. First came “Don’t Let Me Down,” their 2016 hit single with American artist Daya. This was followed by “Closer,” another hit collaboration with Halsey, which reached number one on the Hot 100 chart.
In 2017 The Chainsmokers released their first album, “Memories…Do Not Open,” which went platinum in just four months. Since then the duo has won numerous awards, including the 2018 Billboard Music Award for Top Dance/Electronic Song for “Something Just Like This,” featuring Coldplay.
