CHICAGO — Chicago leaders on Tuesday honored late paramedic Robert Truevillian, who died from coronavirus complications in December, by installing his badge in the department's Wall of Honor alongside others who died in the line of duty.
Truevillian, a 20-year fire department veteran, worked as paramedic-in-charge on Ambulance 71 in the South Deering neighborhood. He died after a weeks-long battle with COVID-19 complications.
"Robert was a kind soul with a big heart, always turning obstacles into opportunities to better the lives of those around him. For 20 years he answered the call of residents in need as a member of this esteemed and great Chicago Fire Department ... not only delivering life-saving care to residents but serving as a leader serving as a leader of our fire department's league of talented paramedics," Mayor Lori Lightfoot said.
