Chicago Scholars’ Annual “Swing for Scholars” Golf Tournament
The tournament will benefit leading youth development nonprofit Chicago Scholars & the Manny and Pat Pulido Sanchez Legacy Scholarship Fund

On Monday, August 16, leading youth development nonprofit Chicago Scholars is hosting its annual “Swing for Scholars” golf tournament at the Naperville Country Club benefiting the Manny & Pat Pulido Sanchez Legacy Scholarship Fund. Led by Master of Ceremonies, 2021 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and Chicago Bulls legend, Toni Kukoč, the event will support Chicago's academically ambitious first-generation and low-income students in the Chicago Scholars programs.
“In its 23rd year, Swing for Scholars continues to be one of the organizations’ most impactful and exciting events,” said Jeffery Beckham, Jr., CEO of Chicago Scholars. “The event directly supports those students who need it the most, while creating a platform for our supporters and corporate partners to build a stronger foundation with our organization.”
Additionally, Manny Sanchez, a Chicago Scholars founding board member and partner at Chicago’s largest minority owned law firm Sanchez Daniels & Hoffman, and his wife, Pat Pulido Sanchez, are proud to honor three Scholars with the “Manny & Pat Pulido Sanchez Legacy Scholarship Fund” at the event. This year’s recipients include Chicagoland high school students Lizbeth Botello, Valeria Ceron, and Ethan Pineda.

“As first-generation college graduates ourselves, we know how difficult the college journey can be,” said Sanchez. “There are countless cultural and economic barriers in the way for first-generation college students, and we are fortunate to be able to offer these three dedicated and deserving scholars a better shot at achieving excellence.”
Tickets start at $750 per player or $3,000 for a foursome and include green fees, cart, tee package, breakfast, lunch, and cocktail hour. Additionally, dozens of sponsorship opportunities and levels are available for those wishing to support Chicago Scholars’ mission to help first-generation and low-income students pursuing their higher education and career dreams.
