
The day after Chicago Sky GM Head Coach James Wade was named WNBA Coach of the Month based on a hot June for the team, the Sky started July with a loss. The good news is The Sky also started June with a loss, but finished 8-4 for the month.
Dallas was led by Marina Mabrey, who tied a career-high with 28 points. Mabrey hit four of five three-pointers and scored 17 points in the first half.
The Sky led by 10 in the first quarter and the Wings were up by 10 in the third quarter, but it still came down to the last few minutes. The game was tied with 6:54 left. It remained a one-possession game until Kayla Thornton hit a layup to give the Wings a 95-91 lead with 46.4 seconds left.

The Wings hit 55.0% (11/20) on three-point attempts, while the Sky managed only 35.0% (7/20). The other major team stats categories were all pretty even.
The Sky was led by Candace Parker with 22 points. Off the bench, the Sky had three players in double digits. Azura Stevens (12), Allie Quigley (10) and Astou Ndour-Fall (10)scored 32 points combined, plus the newly-signed Lexie Brown chipped in three.

In another weird scheduling bit, the Sky are now off until July 19, when they host the Washington Mystics. That is their last game before a long break for the Olympics.
