Chiropractor brings innovative pain treatment to Chicago

Dr. Lopez makes SoftWave therapy, previously only available to pro athletes, accessible to those suffering from 'tech neck' and more

In the work-from-home world we’re currently living in, we’re seeing more articles and social media posts highlighting ways to prevent “tech neck,” which can come from sitting at a home computer for hours on end, or staring at other devices as we communicate through Zoom. These prevention tips are helpful, but what do you do if you already suffer from neck, back, shoulder and carpal tunnel pain as a result of today’s work habits?

Dr. Jimmy Lopez of Universal Wellness Source has an answer. He is introducing the Chicago area to a new patented, non-invasive treatment, designed by SoftWave Tissue Regenerative Technologies’ (TRT), that delivers unfocused waves of acoustic energy over a broad target area to heal muscles and connective tissue, as well as soft-tissue wounds and non-healing fractures. Lopez has brought Softwave technology to his Roscoe Village clinic.

SoftWave therapy’s pulsewaves create angiogenesis to the treated area. Meaning it brings new blood flow with growth and anti-inflammatory factors to reduce pain and increase mobility to the affected area, immediately. Within 45 minutes it causes your body's own stem cells to migrate to the area for long lasting, continued healing. It is FDA cleared for reducing pain, increasing blood flow, activating connective tissue and wound/scar tissue healing. By year's end, it will be FDA cleared for erectile dysfunction and non-healing bone fractures. This can help with conditions associated with “Tech Neck,” as well as pain and issues caused by low back/sciatica, plantar fasciitis, neuropathy, digestive concerns, tennis elbow and knee injuries. The therapy was previously only available to and used by patients such as professional athletes, including LeBron James, but Lopez has made it his goal to make the innovative technology more accessible.

“This has traditionally been an elite form of recovery, and it has helped many people restore painfree activity without drugs, recover from surgery faster, reverse wear and tear on joints, and enhance strength and recovery,” Lopez says. “I believe everyone who is struggling with pain that can be addressed by SoftWave should be able to have access to these treatments. So I’m very excited to bring this innovation to the Chicago area.”

SoftWave therapy includes the application of a gel to the treatment area, then a wand attached to the machine is used to send high energy acoustic waves to the injured, degenerated and/or painful areas of the body. Lopez says results are generally seen after a couple sessions, and many patients report immediate relief, including the elimination of pain, return of mobility and improved quality of life. He adds that unlike many of the high-energy shockwave systems, SoftWave results in a lower re-treatment rate and a higher efficacy rate in rebuilding damaged tissues fast with minimal to no side effects.

Lopez is offering SoftWave treatments at his Roscoe Village clinic at 1902 W. Belmont Ave., the only Chicago-area location to provide the therapy. He says patients can expect to receive a consultation and treatment plan that can require anywhere from two to ten sessions, with each treatment session taking between 5 to 10 minutes. The price of the average treatment ranges from $90 to $300, according to Lopez.

Lopez is a recognized Chicago chiropractor, business and health coach, and entrepreneur. In addition to running four chiropractic clinics, Universal Wellness Source, Lopez has plans to open additional locations with SoftWave Therapy in San Diego, Omaha, Miami and Scottsdale within the next three to nine months. He is also the founder of Healing Flower CBD, an organic, USA-grown line of full-spectrum hemp oil and CBD products and the host of the inspirational Raw & Relevant podcast, where he interviews high profile business men and women who have overcome the odds to achieve their dreams.
