Craziest Things TSA Seized At O'Hare In 2018
Highlights included a zombie-killing axe and fake, Wile E. Coyote-esque dynamite.

CHICAGO — In case there is still any confusion, you can't bring axes, switchblades, illegal drugs, stun guns or any other kind of weapon in your carry-on luggage for your flight. While this may be common knowledge for most people, apparently some still seem to be confused, the Transportation Security Administration said. The TSA continues to confiscate countless weapons and some pretty bizarre items in checkpoints across the country.
Earlier this year, the TSA found a deadly, "zombie-killing" axe in someone's carry-on luggage at O'Hare.
"If you pack your super spooky skull-adorned zombie killer in your carry-on bag, your trip through our checkpoint might unravel," TSA said in an Instagram post. "So, as a random 'axe' of kindness, we’d like to let you know that all axes and hatchets must be packed in checked baggage."

In June, a traveler had a fake, Wile E. Coyote-ish-type fake bomb in their carry-on luggage at O'Hare. While the bomb looked comical after it was taken out of the luggage, TSA said its x-ray image looked very realistic. The discovery caused the checkpoint to close for 20 minutes while the Chicago Police Bomb Squad responded and investigated the bizarre item, TSA said.
"Even if not real, replica or inert explosives are not allowed, at all, in carry-on or checked bags. Never. Nay. Nope. Negatory. Yeah, no," TSA said. "When our officers spot a potential explosive on the X-ray monitor, they cannot just take the traveler’s word that the item is not real. A TSA Explosives Specialist or Police Department Bomb Squad must respond before the bag is ever opened."

TSA said such discoveries lead to costly evacuations, delays and missed flights while explosives professionals confirm that the item isn't real.
In early 2018, a passenger tried to bring a large, "fancy" gold-colored switchblade onto the plane at O'Hare, TSA said.
"All knives, no matter their size, are prohibited from being brought onto an aircraft with your carry-on items," TSA said in the post. "If you’re traveling with a knife, it must be packed in your checked bag."
TSA offers a comprehensive search option on its website if you're ever confused about what can't be included in your carry-on luggage.
