Off-Duty Chicago Cop Fatally Shot Son In Garfield Ridge: Report
Chicago police say an off-duty officer was involved in a "domestic-related" shooting death in Garfield Ridge early Wednesday.
CHICAGO — An off-duty police officer reportedly shot and killed his son in a "domestic-related" incident in the 5600 block of S. Nottingham Avenue early Wednesday, according to police and published reports.
The fatal shooting happened inside the officer's Garfield Ridge home "during a physical altercation," police said.
CBS 2 reported the officer shot his son. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office reported the victim was Rafael Flores, 26, of the 5600 block S. Nottingham. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Chicago police detectives are investigating. But no other details about the shooting were immediately available, a police spokeswoman said in an email.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability has launched a separate investigation because a police officer was involved in the shooting.
