CHICAGO — Former Chicago Ald. Proco Joe Moreno was charged with drunken driving in the Gold Coast Sunday night, police said.

Moreno, 48, faces two counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and failing to report damaging unattended vehicles, police said. He was arrested at 9:39 p.m. Sunday a mile from the scene of the crash in the 100 block of Division Street, according to police.

The former 1st Ward alderman failed to win re-election in February 2019. Months later, Moreno was charged with felony insurance fraud and destroying evidence for allegedly falsely reporting his car stolen after loaning the vehicle to a woman he previously dated. Moreno pleaded not guilty to the felony charges in 2019.
