RPM Italian is welcoming Elisa Scavino of Piedmont’s Paolo Scavino Winery for a five-course Barolo dining event. From the Bric dël Fiasc and Rocche dell’Annunziata vineyards, this fourth-generation winery is one of the highest regarded winemakers in all of Piedmont. Elisa Scavino will guide guests through each of the wines paired with the dinner, which will include agnolotti del plin, buttered tajarin and black truffle garganelli, plus barolo-braised beef with heirloom polenta. Celebrate St. Joseph’s Day with the traditional zeppole: light-weight, cream-filled fritters topped with house-marinated cherries that are one of Chef David DiGregorio’s favorite treats. Zeppole are available in packages of six for $18 or a dozen for $30, plus tax. Call 312-642-8450 to place your order by Thursday, March 16 for pick up all day Saturday and Sunday. Five courses will be prepared by the RPM Steak chef team and paired with both whiskey and wine that have been aged in the same oak barrels, giving guests the chance to enjoy the various nuances that oak imparts. Highlights of this “second generation” dinner include foie gras with green gage plum and kumquat, paired with a Single Cask Armorik “Sauternes Finish” whiskey and 2004 Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes; and the Mishima tomahawk with beef fat potatoes, which is paired with a 12-year Caol Ila “Sassicaia Finish” whiskey and a 2006 Sassicaia.
