Fugitive Wanted For Child Sex Assault Arrested In Chicago: Police

CHICAGO ? A man charged with sexually assaulting a young child is in custody after he violated an electronic monitoring order and lived for years as a fugitive, according to the Cook County Sheriff?s Office.

Jorge Mondragon-Bahena, 48, was ordered to undergo electronic monitoring in October 2022 after being charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a minor under 13, police said.

He removed the tracking device in March 2023 and left his home in the 3500 block of North Southport Avenue in Chicago, according to police, who said he was declared a fugitive and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Investigators learned in January that he was living in the city under multiple aliases and working as a cook in a local restaurant, police said. Authorities learned last week that he was residing in the 4500 block of South Talman Avenue and took him into custody at the home, according to police.

He was charged Friday with felony escape and ordered Saturday to be detained at Cook County jail, police said.
