Gap Joins Macy's In Closing Mag Mile Store
The news comes a day after Macy's announced it will also close its Water Tower Place location.

CHICAGO, IL — A day after Macy's announced it will close its Water Tower Place store on the Magnificent Mile, another retailer is doing the same. The Gap, which has been closed for months amid the coronavirus pandemic, will not reopen its Water Tower Place store, becoming the second tenant to leave the Michigan Avenue mall this week.
A Gap spokeswoman told the Chicago Tribune the closing is "part of our company strategy to adapt to the changing needs of our customer and growth of our online business." Last month, the company also announced it will close its three-story flagship Gap store five blocks south on Michigan Avenue, the Tribune reported.
Meanwhile, the Water Tower Place Macy's store will hold a going-out-of-business sale for the next 8 to 12 weeks before closing its doors for good.
