Girls Find Cop's Gun In School Bathroom

The students made the discovery during the school day Friday.

CHICAGO, IL — Three students found an off-duty police officer's gun in a bathroom at a Chicago K-8 school during the school day Friday, police said. The officer, who also works security, is the subject of an internal affairs investigation.

Three girls were in a bathroom at Catherine Cook School at around 2:30 p.m. when they found the gun and reported it to school officials, police told NBC Chicago.

School security responded and secured the gun.

Police told ABC Chicago that authorities discovered the gun belonged to an off-duty officer after a police report was filed. The officer will likely face discipline but no criminal charges, according to ABC.
