CHICAGO — Three Floyds Brewing has closed it's renowned brew pub in Munster, Indiana indefinitely even as the state has allowed bars to reopen.

"There’s no other way to put it — 2020 has sucked. We’ve been navigating this new world day by day and rolling with the punches it has thrown at us," the brewing company posted on Facebook.

"The safety of our customers and staff is our first priority, and at this time, we do not have immediate plans to reopen 3 Floyds Brewpub for bar or dine-in service. We’re going to continue to brew the beer that brought us together and uphold the culture that you all have built with us over the past fifteen years in the pub."

The Guys Drinking Beer blog was first to report the news Tuesday citing Three Floyds Brewing staffers who said they were notified Monday night that brew pub "won't be re-opening, even after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted."

Three Floyds owner Nick Floyd told the Tribune he made the tough decision to furlough longtime workers to protect them and patrons from the coronavirus. “I can’t put people in danger; no one should die over a beer," Floyd told reporter Josh Noel via text message. Floyd added the pub will reopen in a year or two "when it's safe."
