Hit & Run Driver Circled Back To Fatally Hit Woman 2nd Time: Cops
Police said the man hit the woman and her daughter, only to circle the block and hit the mother a second time, killing her.

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago man struck a 55-year-old woman and her daughter with his SUV and drove away, only to circle back and intentionally hit the older woman again, this time killing her, police said. Edgar Roman, 25, initially told police had had been carjacked but later admitted to hitting the women with his Ford Explorer, according to police.
Prosecutors said Arizona resident Zoraleigh Ryan, 55, and her 20-year-old daughter were leaving Chicago Cut Steakhouse around 10:15 p.m. Monday when they decided to stop and order an Uber to take them back to their hotel, WTTW reported.
As they crossed Hubbard Street in a crosswalk, authorities say Roman's SUV turned onto Hubbard from State Street at a high rate of speed, hitting both women.

Police and prosecutors said Roman got out of the SUV, standing about 10 feet away as a bystander rushed to aid Ryan, who was thrown against the curb, and her daughter. Ryan was conscious and able to describe her injuries at that point, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Prosecutors said Roman got back into the SUV and drove a few car lengths away before speeding down Hubbard and circling back, this time revving his engine as he aimed to hit the women again, the Tribune reported.

A bystander was able to pull the daughter out of the way, but Ryan was struck again and dragged about half a block. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A short distance away, police attempted to stop Roman, but he crashed through a barricade and drove away.
An hour later, police told ABC Chicago that Roman walked into a police station claiming he was carjacked.
Authorities say Roman eventually admitted to the police that he hit the women. Prosecutors gave no motive for the attack, the Tribune reported.
The 20-year-old daughter was taken in good condition to Northwestern Hospital before being treated and released.
Roman's bond was set at $2 million. He is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, false report of offense and leaving the scene of an accident with an injury or death. His next court date is set for Sept. 1.
