ILLINOIS — Christmas is here, and it wouldn't be a holiday without the need for those last-minute items from the grocery store.

But it’s Christmas! Who could possibly be open in Illinois? Fear not. We’ve been there, too. That’s why Patch reached out to major grocery chains nationwide, including Walmart, Target, Jewel and Mariano's, to find out where you can go and when.

Below is a list of grocery store hours for Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25.

  • Aldi
    • Christmas Eve: All stores will open with limited hours (use the store locator for hours at your location)
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Costco
    • Christmas Eve: Stores open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • CVS
    • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target, which are closed). Pharmacy closed
  • Jewel-Osco
    • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: All stores closed
  • The Fresh Market
    • Christmas Eve: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Mariano's
    • Christmas Eve: Stores will open at normal open time and close at 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed (including pharmacy)
  • Meijer
    • Christmas Eve: Stores close at 7 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed

    • Christmas Eve: Stores open at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.
