Snow Hits IL: Over 2 Inches Of Snow Possible
The greatest potential for accumulation is east of I-55 late Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service forecast.
ILLINOIS — We may be halfway through April, but apparently that doesn't mean we're safe from snow in the Chicago area. According to the National Weather Service forecast, a late season snow system will bring accumulating wet snow to the area late Monday into Tuesday evening.
Accumulations will mostly on non-paved surfaces, with the greatest potential for accumulation east of Interstate 55 late Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service forecast.
Forecast data shows a low potential for greater than two inches of snow for most of the Chicago area, and a medium potential closer to the northwest Indiana border.

Temperatures will also be well below freezing on Tuesday night, according to the weather service. If you have any sensitive outdoor plants or vegetation, make sure to take preventative measures to protect them from the cold temperatures.
After the cold and snow on Tuesday, temperatures will begin to rebound. Wednesday will have a high near 44, Thursday a high of 57 and Friday a high of 59, according to the weather service forecast.
