Lil Rel's Civil Trial Over 2016 Fight Set For March

A pizza delivery driver is suing the West Side standup comic and actor for more than $50,000.

CHICAGO — The Cook County civil trial between standup comic and actor Milton "Lil Rel" Howery and a pizza delivery driver stemming from a fight two years ago has been scheduled for March 8. Howery was acquitted of misdemeanor battery in the earlier criminal case.

Lance Jones, the driver, claims he was hurt when Howery, 38, allegedly punched him in the face following a traffic accident in 2016 in the University Village neighborhood, according to the Chicago Tribune. Jones is suing the star of the Fox sitcom "Rel" for more than $50,000, the report added.

The case is one of three legal matters that will have Howery, a West Side native, in a Chicago area courtroom. A former friend is suing him for child support in Will County, and a hearing will be Nov. 28. The "Get Out" star's ex-wife also is asking for more child support in Cook County, and a hearing is set for Nov. 3o.
