A Man Named Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop ... and the Cops He Bopped
An Illinois native with a comic moniker is in a sad place in a Washington state jail after allegedly attacking two police officers.

A former suburban Chicago man who made a name for himself on the Internet for his unusual and delightful name change found himself in the slammer this week, accused of malicious misdeeds.
Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop, 34, assaulted two lawmen in Washington state, according to authorities, and now he’s charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, third-degree malicious mischief and malicious harassment.
While his name may be fun to say, his behavior speaks to a more troubled soul.

Zopittybop-bop-bop, who’s had several run-ins with the law, was suspected of tearing down fliers at the campus library for Evergreen State College in Olympia. (The school mascot is a saltwater clam named Speedy.) He was chased by a campus police officer on Sunday. The accused fought with the officer, tried to grab his gun, bit the officer’s finger, according to prosecutors, and tried to stab him with a pen.

Zopittybop-bop-bop was shot with a Taser gun twice, but he ran away, according to police. A sheriff’s deputy saw him and gave chase, too. The accused threw a rock at the deputy, who shot him a third time with a Taser, according to prosecutors. Still, Zopittybop-bop-bop kept running. And throwing rocks.
The deputy struck him with a metal baton, according to charges against him, and Zopittybop-bop-bop struck back with a brick. Another deputy arrived and hit him with a Taser for a fourth time, after which the deputies tackled him.
The cop was taken to a hospital for treatment of various injuries. The accused was taken in for a mental-health evaluation.
What’s with the name?
Born Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, given up by his birth mother and adopted, he grew up in a small Kane County, Illinois, village, Sleepy Hollow. While living in Madison, Wisconsin, he spent $300 in 2011 to legally change his name to something fitting to his true nature.
He told Madison.com that Beezow is for “the explosion of awareness of the interconnectedness of the infinite love in the universe.”
Doo-doo “is the struggle of our daily lives with that awareness, that with love comes chaos.”
Zopittybop-bop-bop “is the outcome of that struggle, which is often ironic, especially because all life ends in death.”
Say it out loud, and that sort of makes sense.
Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop has an official Facebook page. This is one of his observations on life, posted in December:
“Adults want to hold you fully accountable for (s---) when it transgresses, but that is the cruel, senile and insensitive wisdom of the elderly.”
When you learn Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop is also a diagnosed schizophrenic who told Madison.com he suffered from depression and abuse, this tale takes a far more serious and worrisome turn.
Even a sometimes-giggly Anderson Cooper made fun of his name on CNN.
But he’s lived life on the streets and on the roam. He was arrested in Wisconsin for marijuana possession in 2012. He was also arrested on a weapons charge, and later subjected against his will to antipsychotic medication.
While others were joking, Madison.com took a deeper look at this troubled upbringing and struggles with mental-health evaluation and treatment.
A year later, he was arrested and jailed in Iowa on drug charges. When his name popped up on the booking log, he again made headlines and punchlines.
He has a sister who lives in Chicago. She tried to stay close to him, she told the Madison.com, but his lawyer may have been the person who struck the closest bond.
In a blog on the Huffington Post, attorney David Saltzman shared his views on working with Zopittybop-bop-bop and helping him navigate the legal system as his advocate.
“So, what’s in a name? When that name is Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop, quite a bit. There’s amusement, for sure, along with confusion. Maybe a hint of vertigo, if you spend too long reading it,” he wrote. “But there’s also a burgeoning awareness that something else might be going on. Not to say we shouldn’t laugh at the infinite range of absurdity life presents — we’re only human, after all.
“But at the same time, as we smirk and judge and dismiss, we must strive to remember one simple fact: the most important part of any name is that there’s a human being behind it.”
The human being that once was Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, that today is Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop, finds himself behind bars again.
Behind the jokes is a sad story.
And behind the story is a man who needs help.
