Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes Coming To Chicago This Fall

When and where to buy tickets in advance to the upcoming Marvel exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry.

CHICAGO, IL — Experience the world of Marvel super heroes during an interactive celebration this fall in Chicago at "Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes." The exhibition opens at the Museum of Science and Industry on Oct. 8, featuring immersive set pieces, interactive installations, and more than 300 artifacts from over 80 years of Marvel, including some of the most iconic costumes, props and original art, according to a news release from MSI.

Advance pre-sale tickets to the exhibit will be available Friday through Sunday at Chicago's McCormick Place, onsite at Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), according to MSI's website. Visit the MSI at C2E2 to purchase tickets, win prizes and have your photo taken with Spider-Man, MSI added.

Exhibit attendees can also see how iconic Marvel characters such as Black Panther, Hulk, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel originated and how they've evolved alongside society over the past 80 years.

“We are excited to bring this exhibition to MSI because we believe Marvel’s message resonates with so many of our guests and connects with our own mission,” Anne Rashford, MSI’s director of special exhibitions and business partnerships said, in the news release. “The comics and movies encourage us to find our inner strengths to make the world a better place, and as an institution we strive for our guests to realize their full potential so they can solve the challenges of today and in the future.”

  • Follow the story of Marvel and its influence on visual culture, while uncovering the narratives of characters and gaining insight into how Marvel has impacted and drawn inspiration from the ever-changing tides of popular culture.
  • Explore concept sketches, props and costumes from Marvel Studios blockbusters like “Captain Marvel”and “Guardians of the Galaxy."
  • Take photos next to life-size representations of favorite Marvel characters including Black Panther, Spider-Man and the Hulk.
  • Test the capabilities of the Iron Man armor inside Tony Stark’s lab with an augmented reality experience.
  • View original art from some of Marvel’s most notable comics from the past eight decades, including the very first Marvel comic.

According to the news release, the exhibition also traces how Marvel stories have responded to historical events and addressed wider issues such as gender, race and disabilities while honoring pioneering creators such as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, whose imagination made Marvel into the endlessly expansive fictional universe we know today.

Ticket sales for the public will open after C2E2, and those interested can sign up for ticket sale dates and other updates.

The exhibit will be open to longtime and casual fans of all ages, and isn't included in museum entry, according to the website.
