4 Dead, 4 Wounded In Chicago Mass Shooting On 'Quiet Block': Cops
Police said a 2-year-old was taken to a hospital out of an abundance of caution. Officials are waiting for the wounded to give statements.

CHICAGO — Eight people were shot and four people are dead, according to the Associated Press, after a shooting early Tuesday morning in Chicago's South Side Englewood neighborhood.
Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument at a gathering inside a home in the 6200 block of South Morgan Street. Officials responded to a call of shots fired at the home around 5:40 a.m., according to a media notification.
Four people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the wounded included two men, ages 41 and 25, who were shot in the back of the head. Both were taken to Christ Hospital, and their condition was unknown. A female victim, age unknown, was in critical condition at the University of Chicago Hospital with gunshot wounds, and a 23-year-old man was able to take himself to St. Bernard Hospital with a gunshot wound to the back. He has since been taken to the University of Chicago, where he was listed in critical condition.
"All we know about this residence is there's been several calls for disturbances," Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said during a press conference. "This is a fairly quiet block and not much activity going on as far as police response."

Brown said no suspects are in custody but a large capacity magazine along with several casings were found on the scene. No forced entry is apparent and one of the victims lives at the South Morgan Street location, he said.
A 2-year-old girl was also taken to an area hospital out of an abundance of caution, but authorities said she was not injured.
"Every argument where there's a gun in play could lead to violent crime," Brown said while speaking on illegal guns in Chicago. He called on those who support initiatives to decriminalize illegal gun possession, "come to Englewood and look these families in the eyes."
Police have not released the names of those killed.
