Mayor Lightfoot Plans To Stay Home For Thanksgiving, Eat Chicken
KONKOL COLUMN: Chicago's mayor has had hypocritical coronavirus moments, but she'll be obeying her stay-at-home advice on Thanksgiving.

CHICAGO — Mayor Lori Lightfoot has had a few minor moments of pandemic hypocrisy.
Maybe you remember the time she got a hair cut after shutting down salons.

And, like Illinois' reigning coronavirus hypocrite, Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the mayor joined a crowd of revelers celebrating reports of the death of President Trump's reelection bid.
But unlike Illinois' out-out-touch billionaire governor, who still hasn't decided whether to travel on Turkey Day against his own advice, Lightfoot told me she's planning to hunker down in Chicago for Thanksgiving.

"Ordinarily we'd have family, either we would go to them or bring people to our house, and we're not doing either. We're just staying home," Lightfoot said.
For Chicago's first family, Thanksgiving will be a subdued stay-at-home affair. The mayor said she plans to celebrate her favorite holiday with a family feast, football on TV, a roaring fire and maybe cocktail or two.
But it won't be "Turkey Day" at the Lightfoot's Logan Square abode.
"I'm not a big turkey fan. We do chicken," the mayor said. "About three years ago, we decided we really don't like Turkey. So, why make it?"
