Metra Offers Early Getaway Service
Most Metra lines will add and shift train departures to better accommodate the rush of passengers who typically leave early for holidays.

Metra: Metra will offer early getaway service on Friday, June 30, and altered service Monday, July 3 on most lines to help customers get a jump start on their Fourth of July celebrations.
Most Metra lines will add and shift train departures to better accommodate the rush of passengers who typically leave work early before a holiday. More detailed information about added service and schedule changes can be found at metrarail.com.
“We want to help our customers have a great holiday weekend, and we know for many that means leaving work early to be with family and friends,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “We’re also adding capacity to our trains so traveling is as safe and easy as possible for all those participating in the festivities in and around Chicago.”
