Winfrey has been a longtime political supporter of Michelle Obama's husband, Barack, and campaigned for him during his presidential runs. She also is a significant donor to the Obama Foundation.
The Obamas had been guests on Winfrey's long-running talk show, which was based in Chicago. Following the 2016 presidential election, Winfrey interviewed Michelle Obama during her final weeks as first lady for an hourlong special that aired on CBS' online streaming service.
