'Minor Explosion' Prompts 1st District Police Station Evacuation
Officials said the evacuation lasted only a short time and no injuries were reported.

CHICAGO — Chicago's 1st District police station was evacuated early Friday morning after a "minor explosion" in a second-floor computer room, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.
Officials said the explosion triggered a sensor around 3:10 a.m., and an unknown gas was detected in the room. Firefighters aired out the room and rendered it safe, according to the statement. The evacuation lasted only a short time and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials told NBC Chicago that an "electrical issue" triggered the room's fire suppression system, which was the cause of the unknown gas.
