Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Issued As Storms Hit Chicago Area
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Joliet, Plainfield and Romeoville until 3 p.m. Monday.
ILLINOIS — The first severe thunderstorm warnings of the day have been issued as waves of storms are expected to move into the Chicago area on Monday.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Calumet City, Chicago, South Shore, Roseland, Englewood, Chicago Lawn, Burbank, Harvey, Blue Island, Dolton and Homewood until 3:45 p.m. Monday. According to the weather service, a severe thunderstorm was over Orland Park at 2:43 p.m., moving east at 30 mph.
A flash flood watch is also in place until 7 p.m. Tuesday for central Cook County as well as DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kane, Kendall and other counties.

Don't expect a break from the rain anytime soon, as waves of thunderstorms with heavy downpours are expected through midweek for the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.
Temps will stay in the 80s all week, except for Friday, which has a high of 75 degrees and is the only day this week expected to be dry, according to the weather service.

Monday has a high of 85, Tuesday a high of 85, Wednesday a high of 82, and Thursday a high of 80 degrees. Rain and thunderstorms are expected every day except Friday, according to the weather service forecast.
The weather service said waves of thunderstorms are possible Monday, especially after noon. Flooding of fields, ditches and roads is likely, the weather service said. A few storms could also produce winds strong enough to knock down tree limbs.
The Chicago area received several inches of rain this past Thursday through Sunday, according to the weather service. Manhattan received 5.94 inches of rain, Oak Park received 5.13, Countryside received 5.06, O'Hare received 2.4 inches of rain and Romeoville received 2.85 inches.
