Most Dangerous U.S. City With Fewer Than 200k People in Illinois
Two cities in Illinois are among the nation's Top 10 most dangerous with populations under 200,000, report finds.

Illinois is home to the most dangerous city in the nation with a population between 100,000 and 200,000 people, according to a new report.
Law Street Media’s annual “Crime in America” rankings show Rockford edged out Little Rock, Ark., for the No. 1 spot after experiencing a 28 percent increase in violent crime from 2014-2015.
Authorities in Rockford reported a significant increase in robberies and aggravated assaults, jumping by 22 percent and 30 percent, respectively.

Rockford’s murder rate rose slightly to 13 per 100,000 people in 2015 compared to 11 per 100,000 people the previous year. Overall, the violent crime rate in Illinois’ third-largest city was 1,585 per 100,000 people, according to Law Street.
But Rockford wasn’t the only city in Illinois to appear on the list.
